Fairshake names 32 House candidates for midterm support

Fairshake plans to support 32 House candidates in November’s midterms, backing lawmakers who supported crypto market structure legislation that stalled in the Senate. The slate spans both parties as the industry looks to a future Congress to revive the bill, according to the Associated Press report.

  • 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats are on the slate.
  • Six candidates are set to receive $1 million in support each.
  • Fairshake has not disclosed spending for the other 26 candidates.

Who will get the $1 million commitments?

The six are Reps. Janelle Bynum, Steven Horsford and Derek Tran, all Democrats, and Republicans French Hill, Bryan Steil and Bill Huizenga. Roll Call’s account of Fairshake’s announcement identifies Hill as House Financial Services Committee chairman, Steil as chair of its digital assets subcommittee and Huizenga as the panel’s vice chair.

The other 26 names include House leaders and committee chairs from both parties. Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter said the group backs candidates who support crypto innovation across party lines. He said Fairshake and its affiliated groups spent $40 million supporting 29 Democrats and $31 million supporting 28 Republicans in primaries and special elections this year.

What happened to the Clarity Act?

The House passed the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in July 2025. It would establish federal rules for digital asset markets. The Senate blocked it in September 2026 after lawmakers failed to resolve disagreements, including over ethics safeguards related to public officials’ crypto interests.

All 32 candidates on Fairshake’s slate supported the legislation, AP reported. The group says the bipartisan slate is intended to help build support for crypto policy in the next Congress.

How much more will Fairshake spend?

The total planned spending on the 32 House races remains undisclosed. Fairshake also has not said whether it will make further House or Senate investments before November.

In September, the group announced nearly $30 million in spending against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio. The House slate is a separate commitment; its full cost and effect on the races are still open.
