How to use the wormhole bridge from your own wallet
A wallet transfer through Wormhole has two stages: a source-chain transaction and destination-chain delivery. Check the asset and destination before signing.

To use a wormhole bridge from your own wallet, choose a source asset and destination chain, then sign the transaction on the source chain. The transfer uses Wormhole to carry tokens or messages across chains, while your wallet authorizes the transaction.
- Choose the chain and asset holding the tokens.
- Choose the destination chain and check the receiving wallet address.
- Review the transaction details before signing with your wallet.
How do you start a wormhole bridge transfer?
Start by identifying where the asset is now and where you want it to arrive. When you need to move tokens or messages between Solana, Ethereum and many other blockchains, use the wormhole bridge for that transfer.
Connect the wallet that holds the source asset and select the destination chain. The wallet signs a transaction on the source chain; it does not hand over control of the wallet itself. Keep the destination address in view, especially if you use a different wallet there.
What happens after you sign the transaction?
The source-chain transaction initiates the transfer. Wormhole’s Guardians verify the message from that transaction and sign it, allowing it to be submitted on the destination chain.
Depending on the transfer route and token representation, the destination step can release an existing asset or mint a wrapped version. A wrapped token represents an asset from another chain; it is not the same token contract as the original. The wormhole bridge can therefore move value across chains without making every chain share one ledger.
Some routes require a separate destination-chain transaction to complete delivery. Check the transfer status and follow the route’s completion step if one is required. Keep enough of the destination chain’s native token available if the wallet needs it to pay for that transaction.
What should you check before bridging tokens?
Confirm the destination chain and receiving address before signing. A transaction sent to the wrong chain or address can be difficult or impossible to recover. Also check that the asset shown is the one you intend to transfer; similarly named tokens can have different contracts.
Confirmed: a cross-chain transfer begins with a source-chain transaction and relies on a verified message before destination delivery. Still open until completion: whether the destination transaction has been submitted and the asset has arrived. For most wallet users, the practical rule is simple: verify the route and address first, then track the transfer until the destination wallet shows the expected asset.
