Meanwhile, a Bermuda-licensed insurer whose balance sheet is denominated in bitcoin, has raised $37.5 million from existing investors led by Bain Capital Crypto. The funding supports a business that is expanding its bitcoin life insurance beyond the US.
- New funding: $37.5 million
- Total raised: more than $180 million
- Broker network: 15 partners
- New product: BTC Life 1-Pay, launched in early 2026
Meanwhile announced the funding on October 8, according to the company’s funding announcement. Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures and Morgan Creek Digital also participated.
What does Meanwhile’s new policy offer?
BTC Life 1-Pay is a whole life policy for high-net-worth clients outside the US. The policyholder pays one premium in bitcoin and receives a guaranteed death benefit in bitcoin.
After the first year, owners can borrow up to 90% of the policy’s value, with no repayment schedule or margin calls, the company said. Policies can be held by individuals, trusts or companies. Meanwhile says the product is intended to support succession and estate planning.
The product follows BTC 10-Pay, which the company designed for US taxpayers. The Block reported that Meanwhile’s bitcoin-denominated insurer received a Bermuda Monetary Authority license in July 2024.
What does the funding say about demand?
Meanwhile said it has signed 15 brokers serving wealthy families since launching BTC Life 1-Pay. It named partners in Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE and Switzerland, and said the round follows increased demand in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
The company also said its net long-term underwriting income has already passed last year’s total and is on track to more than double in 2026. It did not disclose an absolute income figure. The funding announcement confirms the raise and the company’s stated growth claims; it does not provide enough detail to independently assess policy sales or profitability.
The Block’s report on the funding also noted that Meanwhile’s total assets stood at 1,183 BTC at the end of 2025, citing audited figures released by the company.
