The XRP Ledger has spent more than 14 years building a network for moving digital assets. Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy announced a partnership on Oct. 13 to bring Privy’s programmable wallets to the ledger, allowing developers to add wallet functions to their apps.
- More than 8 million funded accounts on the XRP Ledger, according to Privy.
- $1 trillion in value moved across the network, according to Privy.
- Developers will be able to build with XRP, RLUSD and other XRP Ledger assets.
In Privy’s announcement, the company said developers will be able to create and manage XRP Ledger wallets programmatically and sign transactions through its infrastructure. The aim is to let payment apps offer crypto and stablecoin transfers without requiring users to set up a separate wallet.
What can developers do with the wallets?
They can create app-based wallets for XRP, Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and other assets issued on the ledger. Users will also be able to export their private keys and seed phrases, according to The Block’s report.
Privy says server-side wallets can also let software agents hold funds and make payments, including through x402, a standard for paying for online services. The announcement frames this as a way to build automated payment experiences; it does not identify applications already using the integration.
What is confirmed, and what is still planned?
The partnership and developer functions are confirmed by the companies. The announcement does not give a rollout schedule or name launch customers.
Privy says it plans to deepen the integration over time with policy controls and gas sponsorship. Those features could let developers set transaction rules and cover network fees for users, but the announcement gives no delivery dates.
The integration adds wallet tools to the XRP Ledger’s developer stack. Whether it draws more payment apps or agent activity onto the network remains open.
