When to Wait or Retry a Pending Bridge Swap

For a pending bridge swap, wait while the source transaction is confirming or the bridge is still processing it; retry only after the transaction has failed or the route requires another action. A bridge swap sends assets from one network and arranges delivery on another, so the steps can take longer than a regular swap on a single chain.

  • Wallet pending: The source transaction may not yet be included in a block.
  • Source confirmed: The bridge may still be waiting to deliver or release funds on the destination chain.
  • Failed or reverted: The source action did not complete, so a new attempt may be needed.
  • Action required: Some routes may need a separate claim or confirmation.

What does pending mean in a bridge swap?

“Pending” can describe different stages, and the right choice depends on which one you are seeing. Check the transaction hash on the source-chain explorer, then compare it with the bridge’s own status page or tracker.

If the source transaction is still waiting for confirmation, submitting a second swap can create a duplicate if the first one later goes through. For a fuller explanation of the wallet-side steps, see this Biswap guide to bridge swaps from your own wallet. A confirmed source transaction with no destination delivery points to a different stage: the bridge may still be processing the transfer.

When should you wait?

Wait when the source transaction is pending, or when it is confirmed and the bridge reports that delivery is in progress. Each route has its own confirmation and processing steps, so there is no single delay that proves a swap is stuck.

Use the route’s status details to identify what has completed. Check the destination network and the receiving address as well; the assets may have arrived even if the wallet view has not refreshed.

When is retrying safe?

Retry only when the original transaction is clearly marked failed or reverted, or when the bridge explicitly asks you to take another step. If the transaction is pending in a wallet on a supported network, options such as speeding it up or cancelling it may be available, but they depend on the chain and wallet.

Before starting again, confirm the first transaction’s final status and whether any funds reached the destination. If the source transaction succeeded but delivery remains unresolved, use the bridge’s recovery or support process rather than sending a second swap. In most cases, checking the stage first is safer than treating every delay as a failed transaction.
