Payroll teams moving funds from Mantle to Ethereum should start the bridge exit early, track proof and claim status, and reserve gas on both networks before payday.

Payroll Leaving Mantle Needs a Scheduled Ethereum Exit

Payroll funds leaving Mantle for Ethereum should be bridged ahead of payday, because a canonical withdrawal has an initiation step and a separate claim. The old seven-day challenge period is no longer a reliable planning assumption after Mantle’s move to ZK validity proofs.

  • Start the withdrawal on Mantle and pay its network fee in MNT.
  • Wait for the withdrawal to become ready to claim on Ethereum.
  • Keep ETH available to pay for the separate Ethereum claim transaction.

For a walkthrough of the transfer interface and its checks, see Mantle Bridge. A bridge moves a supported asset between networks; it does not convert the balance into a different token or remove the need to plan for fees.

Why schedule payroll exits before payday?

A payroll run has a deadline, while a bridge withdrawal depends on settlement and a later claim. Starting only when the payment run is due leaves little room for proof processing, Ethereum congestion or an operator needing to fund gas.

Mantle’s ZK validity proofs changed the settlement path from the earlier optimistic challenge model. That removes the former seven-day wait as the standard planning rule, but it does not make every exit immediate or provide a guaranteed arrival time.

How does a Mantle withdrawal reach Ethereum?

The sender initiates the withdrawal from Mantle, where MNT pays the transaction fee. The request records an exit; the Ethereum balance does not increase at that first step.

Once the withdrawal’s state has been proven and verified on Ethereum, the bridge marks it ready to claim. The wallet must then submit a separate transaction on Ethereum, which requires ETH for gas. Keep the withdrawal transaction hash and check its status rather than relying on an estimated calendar interval.

What should payroll operators confirm?

Before setting a pay run, confirm the asset is supported on both networks and that the destination wallet can receive it. Reserve MNT for initiating the Mantle transaction and ETH for the eventual Ethereum claim; the withdrawing balance cannot pay that claim fee for you.

Build the schedule around the claim becoming available, not merely the first transaction confirming. The confirmed mechanics are the withdrawal request, proof and separate claim. The exact time for proof and Ethereum processing remains variable, so keep a buffer and verify readiness before releasing payroll.
