Uniswap adds external liquidity to v4 on three chains
Uniswap’s new v4 hooks route swaps through outside liquidity on Ethereum, Base and Robinhood Chain, with fees from those trades contributing to UNI burns.

Uniswap v4 hooks let developers add functions to liquidity pools; Uniswap Labs says its new aggregator hooks are now live on Ethereum, Base and Robinhood Chain. The Oct. 22 announcement says the feature brings outside liquidity into Uniswap’s web app and API, widening the sources its router can use when building a trade.
- Launch date: Oct. 22, 2026
- Seven external sources available at launch
- Coverage: more than 90% of DEX activity across the three chains, according to Uniswap Labs
How do the hooks bring outside liquidity into a swap?
Each hook wraps an external source so a router can treat it like a Uniswap v4 pool. Uniswap Labs says the router refreshes quotes every block, then builds a route across its own pools and connected outside sources.
The completed route settles in one transaction, with no new approval required, according to the announcement. The web app includes external sources automatically, while developers can access the hooks through the Uniswap API.
Which sources and chains are included?
Uniswap Labs says seven sources are available across Ethereum mainnet, Base and Robinhood Chain. Fluid, Curve and PancakeSwap are among them, The Block reported.
The Block also reported that Uniswap’s first aggregator hook went live on Tempo in March 2026, where support is limited to the web app. The three chains in the new rollout support both the app and API.
What do routed trades mean for UNI?
Swaps that use external liquidity will pay Uniswap protocol fees, which contribute to UNI token burns, the company says. The launch adds those sources to v4’s routing while keeping the fee mechanism tied to trades completed through the hooks.
Uniswap Labs says the protocol has processed more than $4.5 trillion in trading volume. How much activity will move through the new routes, and how much fee revenue they will generate, remains open; the announcement gives no usage or revenue forecast.
